Propagation
Grows from a bulb; mature plants may produce seed on flower spikes, and large bulbs can sometimes be divided.
Frequently asked questions
My Aponogeton ulvaceus suddenly lost all its leaves. Is it dead?
Probably not. Aponogeton bulbs go through dormancy and can drop their foliage; leave the firm bulb in place and it usually resprouts after a few weeks of rest. A bulb that has gone soft and mushy, however, has rotted.
How deep should I plant an Aponogeton bulb?
Bury only the lower half to two-thirds, leaving the growing tip and crown above the substrate. Burying the whole bulb often causes it to rot before it sprouts.
