Propagation
Plantlets form on submerged flower stalks; cut them free once rooted, or divide a large crown.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my Marble Queen keep sending leaves above the water?
Emergent growth is this species' natural habit — in the wild it stands half out of the water. Cutting aerial leaves and their stalks at the base redirects energy into submerged foliage; deeper tanks and slightly less intense light also reduce the urge to climb.
Will the white variegation stay, or fade over time?
The marbling is a stable cultivar trait, but it is strongest on new leaves grown in good conditions. Weak, starved plants produce smaller, plainer leaves — keep root tabs under the crown every couple of months and the fresh growth will carry bold cream patterns.
