How do I attach aquarium plants to rocks?
Pat the rock dry, apply a small dab of cyanoacrylate gel to the plant's rhizome or root mat, and press it onto the stone for ten seconds. The glue cures white but disappears under new growth. Cotton thread works too and dissolves on its own once the roots take hold.
Is superglue safe for aquariums?
Yes — cyanoacrylate is inert once cured and is the same chemistry used in aquarium-specific glues and even surgical adhesives. Use the gel form, not the runny liquid, and let it set for a minute before submerging.
Will plants attached to stone grow as fast as planted ones?
Epiphytes grow at the same (typically slow) pace whether on rock or wood — they were never substrate feeders. Feed them through the water column with a liquid fertilizer rather than root tabs.
