Description

This hardy and undemanding plant is a mid-ground plant native to the shallow rivers of Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Just like other Crypt species, this one requires stable water parameters and can't be moved all the time as the leaves will start to melt. It does not require CO2 injection but benefits from it as well as liquid fertilizers. This plant has big, elongated broad leaves with green coloration on top and light green on the underside.
When pruned every so often it will grow more like a bush instead of tall and high, which is more appealing. It will propagate by sending runners.
Quite common in the aquarium hobby and great for beginners.
It will propagate quickly by sending runners once settled in its new environment.

The second plant I ordered and was beyond my expectations. I wish Francisco carried red root floaters so I could order from him. The company I ordered it from was completely the at the opposite end of the spectrum.

The crypts came in looking good and we planted them. These plants are typically slow to root in the tank and usually melt back before taking off again in their new homes, so I can't really speak to how they will do in my tank water yet, as we are on a very hard artesian well because this process takes time. That said, I do have other crypts that I bought over a year ago from another seller and that one did great after the usual acclimation period...it even made several new plants in my daughter's guppy tank.
