Description

The Blueberry Snail is a fascinating and newly discovered snail from the Viviparidae family. Found in Papua New Guinea by Chris Lukhaup, the Blueberry snail is taking the aquarium hobby to the next level when it comes to freshwater aquarium gastropods.
Although Blueberry snails are a type of live-bearing snail, they only have 2-3 babies every 3 weeks to a month. Just like other snails in the Viviparidae family, they are not a hermaphroditic species, meaning you need a male and female to breed, so they will NOT overpopulate your aquarium. Mature males usually have a much thicker right antenna than females.
This unique and spectacular snail has a brown/dark orangish, spiral cone-like shell that grows a little over 1". Its foot coloration is something out of this world - the Blueberry Snail's body is dark blue with almost flurescent orange speckles in the face.
These are great peacefull and community snails that can work for beginners but we recommend doing plenty of research before purchasing. Making sure you create the perfect habitat for them before buying is a must!
A lot of the Viviparidae family of snails are captive bred, but not these - Blueberry snails are almost always wild caught and they are incredibly hard to find and import, so quantity is always limited.
Very slow moving gastropods, always hungry and that will grown in a heart-beat.
