Description

The Freshwater Clam is an amazing creature that can be found all over the world. They are living filters that will remove uneaten foods and detritus from your aquarium, causing nitrate levels to drop and help maintain your aquarium water clean and clear.
This Freshwater Clam has a black and tan shell, and loves to bury itself in finer substrates. They are extremely peaceful and can be housed with inverts and other non-aggressive fish.
Clams will obtain their nutrients by filtering. Additional supplements can be offered in the form of invert pellets or sticks.

Clams

Awesome, bigger than expected. Delivered healthy and active. It was exciting to see them open up and start burrowing down into the sand. Don't see them often but I know they are there. Great place to shop !

Fresh water clams

They’re great. As soon as I acclimated them, i put them in my two tanks.
Within minutes they buried them selves and the next morning there was a noticeable improvement in my water clarity.
I’m definitely getting some more soon.

Clams arrived safe and healthy

The clams arrived safe and healthy. I see their tiny filters open and feeding now, days later. Neat creatures that are helping keep the substrate from getting anaerobic.

Clams have barely moved since their arrival about 2 weeks ago. Hoping they will do the cleaning of the sand but so far not happening. They do improve the overall appearance of the aquarium.

Clams will filter and get their nutrients from the water column such as nitrates, improving the overall water conditions. Purchasing clams for the sole purpose of 'cleaning' the sand/substrate is unrealistic as they do not do that. They are also animals that are known to be in the same spot/area for months if not threatened. We're happy to know they are doing great.
