Description

Originating from Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos), the Stripped Wizard Snail, also knows as just the stripped trapdoor, is a gorgeous species of snail that is very uncommon in the United States. Most trapdoor snails are captive-bred/farm raised but this one in particular is much harder to find.
This incredible snail has a spiral like shell that can get up to 1.5" - 2". Its coloration is very unique and special - as the names states, this snail has many parallel stripes on a beige/light brown/yellowish shell (see pictures above). Trapdoor snails are a great addition to any aquarium or pond. Since this snail gets big and quite robust (and has an amazing protective trapdoor) you can put them with some bigger fish. As long as the snail is big enough not to fit in the predator's mouth, you should be ok.
Since this snail can get pretty heavy we don't recommend adding it to a heavily planted tank with thin stemmed plants as it will lift them from the substrate or might break the stem trying to climb.
These snails are extremely hardy and live in a vast variety of water parameters. Very slow moving gastropods, always hungry and that will grown in a heart-beat.
